There are also 'chase' cars that companies purposely put in with the other cars, to create more interest in collecting the cars. Johnny Lightning 'White Lightning' models are the best example, but Hot Wheels is doing it now too. I've left these versions in my other posts of the series of those cars.
Sometimes though, they make a certain version of a car that is only available at a certain store, like WalMart for example. Mattel is doing this with Hot Wheels right now.
Here is an example of a Chase car. This is the chase car of the Red 2010 Hot Wheels Monte, the upper one is the common one, the lower is the chase, with different wheels/tires:
Some Johnny Lightning White Lightning's might just have a white interior and base...but some might have white wheels or the whole car maybe painted white....
Some errors/anomalies I have seen:
Revell Grim Reaper - mostly seen as issue 24 but this is a "Issue 22"?
Revell Lowrider "cotton candy" with matte paint, apparently the clear didnt get applied or something:
Revell Lowrider #147 with no graphics:
Here is a 2010 blue Hot Wheels Muscle Mania car without the side Tampos (stripes)
Also for this blue hot wheels car, there were Walmart only versions with a hot wheels sticker on the windshield:
and a Target only version, with some wrist bands included:
Just know these are not something Hot Wheels produced and someone has been able to reseal the package.
I do have one of these, it is a car someone made into a Bobby Allison stock car from 1972. It is the 1971 red Johnny Lightning car that has been modified, its one of my favorites. I wish I could remember the ebay seller that sold these a while ago, its great. Has stock car wheels and its reasonably accurate to the car that he raced, sponsored by Coca-Cola.
