The first Hot Wheels Montes

In 1998, Hot Wheels finally introduced a 1970 Monte Carlo model.  First there were 2 Black Box cars, a Yellow and Purple Lowrider with movable axles to mimic a car with hydraulics.  There were also 2 other ones, a Orange/Green one and a Red one with a light green interior, that were in a couple different sets of 3 Lowrider cars. Hotwheels has released some more Monte's in 2010, 2011, 2012 and will be in 2013 as well.  I'll cover those in a later post to keep it sort of chronological.

All 4 of these are a casting that has the fender skirts in the back...

Here are pictures of the first two, they both have a graphic of a voodoo dude on the hood.  This yellow car has a light blue chassis with silver exhaust, and orange oil pan.  It has light olive green interior.

This purple car, has gold interior, and green chassis.  All 4 of these cars have a little 'chain' steering wheel and the seats are rounded, they look like swivel buckets to me.

The other two from these series, were only available in sets with other cars, but they were basically the same car with movable axles and some wild colors.  This orange /green one has a white interior and a black chassis.

and this one...this red one has chrome bumpers where the previous three have a gold tone to the bumpers. Also it has a black chassis with silver painted exhaust.  It has a light green interior, and does not have any graphics on the hood or roof.

And below are some pictures of the boxes they came in.....the orange/green car came in a Lowrider  Magazine set:

The red car came in a Voodoo Highway set:
